This blog is a month late because we had no wifi in the beautiful country of Swaziland. But I wanted to share with you what life looked like this past month. Enjoy.
As of today I have been in Swaziland for 5 days. We are staying at a children’s home up on a mountain. It’s called El Shaddai. Its all squad month which means that all 54 of us are together for a whole month. Its so awesome to get to build relationships with the whole squad. Its been really refreshing and encouraging. Every racer is paired with a child this month. Unfortunately my child is still in South Africa with her mom.
Most of the children here dont have parents or their parents are not fit to care for them. But my little girl is the granddaughter of the woman who runs El Shaddai. I am really excited to get to meet her and play with her. She is only 5 years old and her name is Shiloh. This past week I have also spent my mornings with the pigs here at El Shaddai! We have scooped a lot of poop and loved on little piglets. I have enjoyed it but its hard work. Totally worth it though. This month is drastically different from last month. Swaziland is a beautiful country full of mountains and there is potential for me to not leave this plot of land for the whole month.
To be honest I would be okay with that.
The view here is beautiful and I am feeling the need to enjoy a slower way of life. I feel like after last month I need to recharge. While we were in South Africa we traveled a lot. It was so awesome to get to experience so much beauty in South Africa but it was also draining. I am really enjoying this month so far. I am currently reading in Galatians where Paul is talking to the church in Galatia about how only by Christ are we saved and its such good news.
God is showing me that sometimes I allow the works mentality to sneak back up in my heart. I am so thankful for His patience and steadfast love for me. He is the groom in this marriage covenant with His church which means He pursues us. He is teaching me how to accept that. I love Him.
