10 things I miss from home.
-Missing birthdays, graduations, marriages, engagements, births.. all the above. 

-People watching and being able to understand what they are saying.

-Purchasing something and not being ripped off in the meantime.

-Cheese/peanut butter not being the most expensive thing in the store.

-Watching my nephews grow up. Another one on the way!

-Feeling clean for more than 5 minutes after a shower.

-Random road trips with the bests. 

-Being a normal person and not being constantly stared at. 

-Closing the door and being alone. What does that even feel like?

-Unlimited black coffee at my finger tips. Thank you Grandpa.


10 things I DON’T miss from home.

-Materialism.

-Summer heat.

-How easily my mind gets obsessed with dumb things.

-My out of control attempt at independence.  

-Raccoons. 

-Traffic tickets.

-My distorted mindset of entitlement to the things I want.

-Narrow minds including my own.

-My cell phone.  

-The lack of public transportation.



10 things that have made us say, “only on the world race…”
-Two cows fighting and ultimately knocking a house down.

-The brutal murder of 10 chickens/a cow for dinner. 

-Taking a row boat to a private island for a chill day on the beach.

-Killing a rat.. and trying it just for kicks.

-Seeing the most gorgeous beaches in the world. 

-Mud fights. Snowball fights. Fireball fights (tennis balls on fire). Water fights.

-Attempting to convince kids to hop in my backpack and not say a word.

-Seeing how many people are passionately pursuing the Lord day by day around the world.

-Unwillingly becoming best friends with those crazy people you live with. 

-The phrase “See you in heaven one day” while saying goodbye and meaning it. 



10 intense things I have seen that will stay with me for life.
-A paralyzed man of 2 years getting up and walking in front of me after intense prayer.

-A man getting hit by an auto and flown off his motorcycle.

-One of our street boys showing up with a slit in his neck.

-A woman’s backbone straightening out as we prayed.

-Abandoned babies in the hospital with HIV clinging onto their lives.

-Toddlers taking care of babies.  

-Kids carrying AK47’s. 

-A man threatening our translators life after we drove on his “territory.”

-The vulnerability of kids being conned into human trafficking.

-People all over admitting they have never heard the name of Jesus. 


Heavy stuff but I am thoroughly thankful for this crazy adventure. Thank you to all the supporters. Thank you Liz Wilson for making me obsessed with lists. Thank you Lord for your protection on this journey.
