Well, it’s Friday again and we’re
finally back with our FRIDAY UPDATES! (The once a week blog where we
fill you in on the random happenings of our lives). Sorry we’ve missed
the past few weeks – we took off for our vacation and since then have
been catching up with work and preparing for a trip down South for
Training Camp and support raising. (More on that later!)

For now, we wanted to share some of our
latest videos with you! As most of you know, Rusty has a very
specialized skill set from his time in TV – he is great at shooting,
editing, and anchoring video pieces! Over the past few months, he’s been
given more and more opportunities to use those skills in his job with
The World Race, and his part-time job at our church. He gets almost all
the credit for the pieces below, but he is slowly teaching me how to
shoot and edit too! It’s been fun to be a part of some of these
projects. Check them out!

The World Race Report. This is a new project that Rusty
has been working on with Kim Daniels and Katie Rowland. It’s a “News”
style report that shares some of the stories from the past month on the
World Race. This episode includes stories from Thailand, Haiti, Kenya,
and Tanzania. Check it out below!

Tanya Karkanen’s Story.
Tanya is one of the women from our church, and she has quite the “God
Did” story! Rusty put this together to share her story, and to help
promote the “For Their Lives 5k” our church is hosting this weekend. The
event is to raise awareness and support for single parents like Tanya,
and the money raised will go to SafeHorizons, a shelter for battered and
abused women. It aired on Mother’s Day. You can watch this powerful
story below!

Channel 9 Cincinnati. This video
wasn’t edited by Rusty, but a lot of it was shot by him! An ABC
affiliate TV station in Cincinnati, Ohio contacted us about running a
story about The World Race. This is the first big media hit for the
program, and Rusty was excited about being a part of it! Because of his
history in TV, he was able to provide the station with all the World
Race video they needed (most of which was shot by Rusty!) One of the
shots they decided to use was of me playing with some orphans in
Swaziland. There is also a great interview with our friend and WR Alum
Andrea Wendel!

The Fun Referee. We
thought we’d save something fun for last! This is a video I helped with a
lot (and we both appear in it). Our church has been going through a
“Mythbusters” series. The week this ran, the subject was the myth that
“God takes the fun out of everything”. We made this as a humorous piece
to illustrate how some people view God – as a “referee” who makes rules
about everything and blows his whistle on anything fun! If you want a
good laugh, check it out!

That’s
all we have this week. We hope you have a Happy Friday and a great
weekend!
