Hi it´s Seth and Robby reporting in after an exhausting but exciting day of racing from Lima to Chincha. Rusty is being a good leader and helping everyone put up tents.  So, we commandeered his blog to update you.

After waking up to roosters and fights outside the hostal, we had a breakfast of bread and coffee.  Bob Cooley, leader of AIM´s operations in Peru explained the exciting adventure he had planned.

Loading up on a big bus and not knowing anything, we received our four pages of detailed instructions for the day and were fed to the lions!

First stop was the Jose San Martin statue. Then the main square, a Chinese restaurant, the catacombs, a carriage ride, and a taxi ride to the Pacific coast.  From there to Baracono where we met a cool old man in a restaurant who told us the history of Peru.  Presidents from five different countries will be coming to his restaurant.

Gretchen and Robby road the hood (well, in the windshield anyway) of the bus. But during the safety check, we got put in regular seats.  Meanwhile in Teagen´s world, she had lost her identity – literally. Sadly, all her passport, camera, money, and ipod were gone!! Bummer $%#$&!!

Then we road the bus to a town where we took a sketchy taxi to go white water rafting.  We discovered we were in first place and invited Seth to join us on the river. The rapids were excellent and we had a blast, though we were completely soaked.

On the way back down the mountain, Robby had the whole taxi-bus cracking up belly laughing and gasping for breath while Eli in the front seat took his wet shirt off and waved it at all the women that we passed on the road.

We were dropped at the bus station and we had to give them our names to get bus tickets, so we made up a bunch of fake names: Eli Sexy, Roby Waggy, and Gretch Smith. Teagen was Amy Hifill. For some reason, Meagan stayed Meagan.

We made it to Chincha by 8:30 in first place! An amazing first day of the World Race. Stay tuned for further adventures! We love you all.
