It’s amazing how quickly God can change your life if you just ask him.

In the fall of 2006 I was jetting around the country following every move of the Arkansas Razorback football team. You see, back in the day I was a sports anchor for the largest TV station in the state of Arkansas. I was in television for five years. I loved it, however in January of 2007 God started moving in my life. I realized being on TV wasn’t doing it for me, and it would never bring me true happiness. I wanted more, and I knew that “more” was God. I Googled missions, found Adventures in Missions and from there I found the World Race – an 11 countries in 11 months mission trip. I thought, wow!, look at these folks acting as the hands and feet of Jesus. I was blown away by their passion, their faith and their love for Christ. So, I started reading their blogs and that’s where I got myself in trouble. I ran across one in particular where the question was asked, “are you praying scary prayers like God take my life?” Heck no I wasn’t, but I soon found myself asking God to take over my life. A month later I was fired from my job! Ha, be careful what you pray for! That was in April of 2007, since then I’ve done the race twice – traveling to and ministering in 17 different countries. I finished up my second trip, the ’08 World Race, in November. Now I live in Michigan with my beautiful wife and work full-time for the program.

God has used the World Race to radically change my life. Now I want to see other people’s lives changed as well. I believe with all my heart there are a ton of people out there who are disenchanted with the church because of the way Jesus has been presented to them. I believe they are looking for something different – dare I say something real. God is real and alive in this world if we will just take a step of faith and get out of our comfort zones. And that’s what the race is all about – taking people out so they can be brought back in 11 months later on fire for God!
