Have you ever noticed how modern video games suck you in? It’s like “Hey, I should get a blog post up today, and then, oh wait, there’s a new Free to Play on Steam, I should try it!”… 3 hours later… “Man, why didn’t I get my blog post up today. Oh well, I’ll do it tomorrow.” And then the cycle repeats itself!

Why do I get sucked in to these games so easily? I think I have the answer, and it is the illusion of accomplishment. I think I am getting stuff done, so it satisfies my need to do something. The issue is that as time goes on, it doesn’t satisfy as well, leading to me trying out new games, enjoying them, then getting bored. I’ve found that I’m longing for older games, ones that were actual accomplishments to learn and play, not these ones that hold your hand through the entire game. But I digress. I’ve been constantly fighting a very easily distracted nature, so having access to video games on the same computer as I blog on is not really a good idea, but I only own one computer. Blogging 24/7 is not going to happen, and I don’t want to videogame 24/7 either. Looks like I have to strike a balance. Wish me luck!
