Living in America weare influenced by what the media says. We don’t have first hand experiences many times with what actually is true or false when it comes to different cultures and people. I quickly found out the heart of people and how alike we are no matter the culture we grew up apart of. Love, Joy, Happiness, and dreams are what sticks out to me when talking to refugees.

They fled Sudan because of the war. Family, friends, and village people dying left and right; at night when they are asleep and least expecting it or during the day. These people fear for their lives everyday. Leaving is hard but surviving once there gone is a whole other story.

Syria, Italy are the main countries where you have to make it out alive in order for some freedom on their long journey for three weeks. Many women and children don’t make this journey because the survival rate is low. The men who go through these countries need money if they are captured to keep going. If they do not have enough they get stripped down and sent back to their home country with nothing. Makes you wonder..If these people are willing to risk their life for freedom and dreams, what are we willing to risk to help these people pursue these dreams?

They have been in Paris for three weeks after a three week traveling hardship. Many hope to be in Paris for a short time before getting into the UK and attending a university to learn about english, business, and architecture. But the real question is… is the government doing their best to help these refugees?

When arriving in Paris they are left on the streets with nothing but what they brought. Some organizations help out the best they can but with thousand of refugees coming here it seems enough just isn’t happening. This won’t stop their pursuit of happiness and freedom though.

After spending a short time with them, listening to their story and just loving on them you quickly realize they are people just like us too. They love sports, a good laugh, and desire for that comfort they have left behind. Majority just want to live a better life. Most want to rescue their family after getting through to their safe place. Majority haven’t talked to their family in weeks or months.

Mustafai Ali: Lost his family but his father. Lives in a small town in Sudan where at night when they least expect it dozens are killed in front of family members. Brutal. Heartbreaking and anger is what went through my mind when hearing his story. All he wants is freedom and a better life to live out his dream of being an architect. He is currently moved into a refugee camp where he has his own bed with a sleeping bag, pillow, food, showers, and other things to make his life more comfortable an stable until the government gives them their papers.

I hope reading this post lets you know the urge and sadness these refugees experience and the help they need and want to live a normal free life to pursue their dreams. Their are thousands of stories, any I could write but relationships are pivotal and establishing the love they need. The love Jesus can give them. The unconditional love.

Help me Help Them! Donate and Sponsor me to help these refugees pursue their dreams. Everyone deserves freedom and to pursue their dreams. It’s my mission and goal for the year to show them with Jesus at the center anything is possible.
