This is the exact reason I don’t like blogging while on a Christian mission trip. I knew I wouldn’t do it very often because of this reason. But here it is, I can’t stand talking about my own life as if its something special. I know that I’m in a foreign country doing cool stuff everyday, weather its getting to share the gospel, sit in a hammock resting with God, or playing with exotic animals its all pretty cool to experience. But that what all of you readers already could have assumed that I would be doing. I know that blogging is way to let you into my life or express my growth. The only thing is I’m terrible at expressing myself through words in person and I ‘m better at just living differently and letting someone see the change in me. I don’t want anybody out there to think oh man he’s got the life traveling around, being with God, and help the far reaches of the world and I am stuck here in America.
Don’t think that cause that’s not the case.Although, I do think that individuals in my generation and younger in America probably need to take a non-vacation outside of the country in order to see whats going on in the world and be stretched. I do want to come back to America and live there for my immediate future at least. However, the exposure to all the cultures and the love that each one is desperate for has confirmed some of my perspectives on life for sure. For instance:
? The best examples of people that love well are the ones that don’t hold others to their own expectations.
? The way to connect with others in any culture is to try and speak their language and smile well the smile is because I love smiling so I think its important ha ha.
? And the world needs more people less focused about me, myself, listen to how my life is, and more focused on you, how are you felling? how has your family been?
Now I do understand that everyone has needs and I’m not against living out attain those needs like food and sleep, I love each of those things. All I am saying is that no matter what community you are involved in, I think especially in Christian community. It is imperative to shift as many stories and life experiences away from a sight that has blinders on and can only see how it works in my own life to how it involved the whole community. Know and understand that Christ loves you just the way that you are with all your faults and talents. You don’t have to achieve anything higher if you believe that. And that will release you to a knew level of being able to just sit and bask in the glory that surrounds is a life cloaked in no exceptions. No exceptions of others, of yourself, or of anything around you begin exactly how you want it to be. Instead its a life filled with letting God shape your world freeing you up to let people be people and you just existing with them so that you can love them.
….So teaching English to kids sin Cambodia gave me that revelation, why the crap do I need to be in Cambodia for that, lol? Now let me know what epiphanies you come up with wherever you are at right now!! Love Ross
