Hi! I’m Ronny. Welcome to my blog!
Why not start with 11 facts about myself:
1. My full name is Prince Ronald Charles William Wilson Junior. Okay so I lied about the prince part, but sometimes I like to pretend I’m English royalty or something. I go by Ronny, but many people also call me Ron, Ronald, Ronaldo… Call me whatever you want!
2. I’m 22 years old and hail from the lovely city of Easton, PA, nestled right on the eastern border of Pennsylvania. I’m minutes from Jersey, and a mere hour from Philly and NYC. Lehigh Valley represent!
3. In high school, band, choir, and musical theatre took up all of my time. I haven’t been involved in any musical group since, but I still love to sing! [Who doesn’t?] You should probably tune in for a performance of my older sister Allie and I singing “Faithfully”; it’s quite a treat.
4. I have a tattoo on my right foot that says “walk humbly with God” inspired by Micah 6:8. It serves as a daily reminder to walk with the Lord, and that everything good comes from Him. Ever since I got that tattoo two years ago I’ve been dying to get more. Don’t be surprised if I return from the Race with a few more! UPDATE: I got WR tattoo number one in Thailand! Mountains, a tree, a cross, a pine tree, and Isaiah 52:7 on my left foot. Woot woot! (But who’s to say that’s the only tattoo I’ll get on the Race…)
5. Penn State Forever. In four short years, Happy Valley became my home, and I will always be a Penn Stater. WE ARE!
I majored in Psychology and minored in Biology and Human Development & Family Studies. Before Psych, I briefly majored in Elementary Ed and then Biology. I have no idea what I’m doing with my degree after the World Race, but (ironically enough) I have felt God calling me to education. We’ll see where life leads me!
6. I am extremely addicted to coffee. (The first step is admitting it, right?) I am certain that Wawa is the coffee served in Heaven, and Dunkin is a close second. These next few months will take lots of will power to wean off of this sweet, sweet nectar… UPDATE: I haven’t had to wean off of coffee. Central America has actually fueled the addiction. I love it!
7. I started working at Sbarro in the HUB (aka student center) at school last year. For whatever reason I was terrified for my first day. I soon felt like the coolest person ever, because I know how to make a pizza (aka the best food ever)!
8. During my four years at Penn State, I dedicated the majority of my time to THON, a yearlong effort to help kids fight cancer, and the largest student-run philanthropy in the world! I have made so many incredible friends and memories, met the most inspiring children and families, and seen real-life miracles of the Lord happen through THON, and I will forever hold this cause close to my heart. For The Kids, always.
9. As crazy as they are, I love my family more than anything! I have two amazing parents, four beautiful sisters (ranging in age from 11 to 36), two nephews, one niece, and two brand new identical twin baby nieces born on May 8th!!!
FUN FACT: nibling is a little-known word, which means “niece or nephew.” I love using it, because no one knows what I’m talking about. Hehe.
10. I’ve always identified as a Christian, but it wasn’t until the end of my sophomore year at Penn State that I committed my life to Christ. I still mess up, yet God redeems! My relationship with the Lord means everything to me, and I am so excited to see where this faith journey takes me!
11. 2014 was my fourth and final summer working on Summer Staff at Pocono Plateau. I’ve been going to camp since I was in middle school, and I cannot imagine a better place. My best (and weirdest) friends in the world are from camp, and this is the place where my relationship with God has been challenged the most, and thus grown the most. Everyone should have the chance to stargaze while lying on the ballfield and watch the sun set from the fishing dock. Pocono Plateau is my happy place. It’s where I feel closest to God. And it will always be home.
I don’t really know how to blog, so bear with me as you read these posts! I leave you with a quote and a verse helping me through this crazy and incredible journey:
“Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” – Theodore Roosevelt
“Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” – Proverbs 16:3
