People ask me when I tell them I went on a mission trip to 11+ countries, “which country was your favorite?”
When I think back to my experience, it isn’t the country, food, or organization we partnered with that I’m evaluating. It is the people that I remember from each city, the kids that became my friends in an instant and the stories of individuals and their longing for Jesus that I remember.
I’m continually challenged by reading books, blogs or listening to podcasts by pastors, leaders etc. on their walk of faith experiences. But we all need, and I pray each of you have, a person, two people or many more who walk life next to us, encourage us when we’re down, see us at our worst and create a hope in us that the morning will come when times are hard.
Jennifer Morrow (check out her blog)came into my life a few months after I came back from the World Race, and I was continually encouraged by her in a variety of ways, as I was a mess from culture, church and many other shocks.
One day as I was transitioning from working part-time to full-time in a new city and adult life, I was crippled by fear of the unknown. And although we were at work, I became emotional as it was one of my last days at work. Jenn came and sat next to me and asked if she could pray with me. It was an amazing moment as she proclaimed trust in the times of fear of the unknown and reminded me of the continual goodness of God.
A few months ago I received in the mail news that she would be going on the WORLD RACE! I was so excited for her, because when I think of the mission trip, I see faces not countries. I see a beautiful woman in Cambodia who survived the Khmer Rouge, I see a 4 year old in Dominican Republic who ran out of her shack where she lived with 5 other family members to greet me daily, I see a woman pregnant in South Africa as a recovering drug addict and so many more faces I see.
I am writing to ask for each of you to partner with Jenn on her journey. This does not solely mean financially, I know many times on my journey I would receive an e-mail or a comment from a blog that would be so encouraging and needed during the year. Other days I could feel the prayers from my family, mentors and friends and they were so effective and powerful.
As I read
Jenn’s blogs one of her big needs currently is finances. She needs $7,750 to be fully supported. Financially you can give a single donation or monthly donations. Ask God how YOU can make a difference with Jenn seeing the faces of not countries but people, relationships, children and a story that will unfold this next year touching thousands.
Love you friend.
