Hola from a little village just outside of Talanga Honduras!
First off let me just say how good Jesus is! After 2 cancelled flights, 24 hrs in the Toronto airport, lost baggage 2 times, I made it Just, and I mean just in time to leave with my team for Honduras. Every story lines up so perfect to what God is capable of doing and I am so thankful! So thank you all for praying!
Ohhh man! Where do I start.
I never knew that in my first 2 weeks of being on the mission field I would experience what I have. I mean all my expectations have been shattered because what I have experienced is greater than all my expectations going into the world race for the whole 11 months!
Has it been tough, yes. Do I miss my family, Everyday. Do I miss hot showers when I’m talking a cold bucket shower, yes. But these are the reasons it’s even more important for me to be where I am. Right here, right now. This life is not about me.
I have danced in an open field with kids who live in a 100 square foot wooden house. The joy they have, unexplainable. I’ve got to pray over a baby with my team who was so sick with a fever, but was instantly healed by Jesus in that moment. I have had some of the best laughs I’ve had in years with my squad. I’ve got laughed at by the locals for trying to speak spanish (in a funny way). I have been invited over for lunch with my team for an Honduran lunch. Now that is humbling. They don’t have barley anything to offer but what they Do have, they give so freely. I’ve ate beans and corn tortillas… a lot, and they are not my favorite haha but i’m believing by month 3 ill love them! I’ve got to sing, dance and pray with so many people in the villages, including a pastor who lost his wife. We prayed for him, Then he prayed over us! wow. Holy spirit! Seeing the joy we brought to him, and the joy he brought to us just by spending a half hour with each other … wow. I’ve got to watch my team mate ride a horse for the first time in her life. A honduran one at that. A cup of coffee is 25cents… Whaaaaat!
We’ve got to pray over a mother, and then her son. Louis is his name. The dad opened the door to his 22 year old son who has brain damage because of drugs. He couldn’t talk. Let me tell you. I felt as if I was walking with Jesus. When he would go heal the sick. This man was laying in a wooden bed. Skin and bones. We sang over him, prayed over him And loved him. This young man, his eyes filled with so much pain. By the end he gave my teammate Laura a smile and was moving his lips trying to talk. Was he completely healed, not yet, but man it’s coming! Jesus has healed him! we are claiming it. You will hear about his complete healing. We got to pray with a girl who felt so un Worthy to be loved and she told us we were the first ones who has ever prayed for her.
I taught some beautiful kids how to play catch. It was so humbling. By the end of it Andrea the little girl was making up her own rules.
We’ve got to sing father Abraham, with a group of kids who gathered around us in a village. I mean, it’s so beautiful. The language barrier can be tough but singing is universal. And Love is universal! A wave, a smile or a good ol HOLA is all it talks to put a smile on their faces!
This is why I’m here. I’m so thankful for all these opportunities and I’m thankful for all you guys who are making this possible for me to me here! God is faithful. My team and me are so grateful for these moments but most importantly, we’re thankful we get to bring the name
Of Jesus fame! He is so good and so faithful! I can’t wait to see what the next 11 months bring!
