Truthfully, I don’t really know how I got here. It all materialized so fast!
Back in January, I definitely didn’t see this as a thing that was going to happen. But just because this was not a part of my plan or vision doesn’t mean it was not what God had intended for me all along.
This trip specifically was sparked by a casual conversation I was having with a stranger at the time. The idea really tugged at me. I felt called to missions before, but there was a prerequisite I had. I felt lead to be away from home for time period in between 4 months to 2 years. I heard about the World Race and thought, “Wow, that sounds amazing!” and the more I looked into it, the more it felt right.
So the next day I asked my mom how she felt if I wanted to go to the mission field for almost a year, and she was incredibly supportive! The most memorable part of our conversation was when I said it means a lot that you are okay with this (me going on an 11-month mission trip), and she responded, ” Why wouldn’t I be?”
I applied the next day, so I had a two day turnaround from learning about the World Race to committing to it!
A prayer of thanks:
Thank you God for all your blessings unto me.
You have given me with a second chance, spiritually and physically.
You have prepared me with a heart to seek Him; to follow Him with faith and obedience.
You have taught me what discipleship looks like with a Christian brother.
You have tested me in the spiritual wilderness; how to conquer my depression.
You have sculpted me into a man of God to do and hear Your will.
Without You, I am nothing.
In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
