John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
From the beginning of the race until now something has changed in our squad. I look around and I see men and women walking in deeper levels of freedom that before may have seemed unattainable. It's a freedom that can only come through knowing God, a freedom that directly correlates with truly believing who you are in Christ.
God's people are a shadow of what they should be because they believe a lie. As children of God when we believe lies we are willingly giving away our authority and voluntarily surrendering dominion for the enemy to kill, steal, and destroy. When we live our lives addicted to a sin we are believing a lie.
A lie that plagued me since the 9th grade was that I had to drink alcohol to have fun. I believed this lie for so long that it became my new reality and I revolved my life around it. I believed this lie for almost 9 years and it led to all sorts of bondage and a life that was never satisfied. This year I decided to truly stop believing that lie and now I'm free. I haven't had a drink in 11 months and I've experienced that fullness of joy are only found in His Presence.
Believing lies creates bondage even in believers lives. Lies leave us hungering for God from an orphan mentality. This mentality starts to make you live your life for Gods love instead of from His love. When you start to live your life for Gods love you'll eventually begin to look inward and begin to see just how unworthy you really are of that love. Eventually you'll voluntarily put yourself back under the law and it will start to construe your view of His love and every time you mess up you will find yourself striving to do something to earn it.
The Sonship mentality always lives in the revelation of a good dad. They live their lives from Gods love. This produces freedom and a garden within your heart that God can produce good fruit in. The son doesn't live his life repenting from but repenting to. Repenting to who he really is. This is where you experience the deep heartfelt revelation of the love of God.
Going from the orphan mentality to the sonship mentality it always involves itself in repentance. The orphan mentality always has you repenting from while the sonship mentality always has you repenting to. Repenting to who you really are.
The prodigal son came to himself when he was in the pig pen. He planned his confession and headed home with the hopes his father would forgive him. While he was still a far distance off his father saw him and ran to him (he had already forgiven him). As he tried to confess to his father, he was pretty much ignored as the father was so overjoyed at the son being home that he started planning a party aloud. The son had hopes of being like the hired hand but the father had already decided in his heart that he would restore his son to royalty. It's why he ran to him. This is Jesus explaining the Fathers heart!
When we truly repent to who we really are strongholds are going to come down because that's not who we are anymore. Throughout this 11 months I've seen God heal his children and free them from the bondage of their past. Where truth reigns supremely lies lose their power and are demolished.
Jesus took what we deserved so that we could receive what He deserved.
Live in that freedom today.
