Dear friends,
I
hope that you are doing well! I wanted
to take an opportunity to let you know what God has been doing in my life
recently. As you may know, I have spent
the last four years of my life as a student at the University of Georgia. This season has been the best
of my life as I’ve experienced Christ’s love and grown in Him in extraordinary
ways. During this time, I have received the care and discipleship of several
Christian men who have taught me how to be a Godly man. I look back at my college experience with
gratitude and joy as I see how God has used the selfless love of others to take
me from a person who only lived for himself to a man who desires Christ and the
life He offers.
As I approach graduation in May, I have felt God telling
me that it is time to stop just receiving and to start giving for His
kingdom. I have received a taste of
service as I have worked as a leader with S.W.A.T. Ministries. About a month
ago, I was able to connect with an eighth grade student and encourage him in
his daily walk with Christ. Now, God has
called me to serve further as I begin an eleven-month mission trip around the
world. The World Race is a program with
Adventures in Missions that sends teams to share Christ’s love in eleven
different countries in eleven months. The
team I am with will leave in July to travel to the following countries: Haiti, Dominican Republic, Ireland, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Philippines, Mozambique, Malawi, a still to be determined African region, Turkey, and Romania. In Thailand, our team will minister to sex trafficking
victims. Girls of all ages work as
prostitutes, often feeling like they have no other choice in order to make
money. Our team will encourage these
girls, reminding them of Christ’s love for them and providing them other job
opportunities. In Romania, our team will love the unloved Gypsies. These people are the outcast of their
society. We will lead sports camps,
teach English, and live with them. Our
team will also help plant churches in Malawi, care for orphans in the Philippines, and serve God’s people in countless other ways
throughout our journey.
I am eager to share the love of Christ with lost people
all around the world. Sadly, there are
regions of the world where the name of Jesus is not even known. But the good news is that Jesus says that
before He returns, every tribe, tongue, and nation will be represented among
the Redeemed. I am blessed to be able to
participate in that mission.
The
World Race will also be an incredible opportunity to grow further in my walk
with Christ. I expect to grow in
boldness, faith, humility and many other areas; I also hope to discover more
about who I am and who God has called me to be.
I know that I will be changed by God in ways that I cannot even
imagine.
I
share this letter with you to ask for your support. First, I humbly ask that you join our team in
ministry through your prayer. God is
going to use us in extraordinary ways, and your prayers can only increase His
glory around the world. Second, I humbly
ask that you join our team in ministry through financial support. In order to participate on this trip, I must
raise $14,300, which will cover all of my expenses while in the field. If just fifty people commit to twenty-five
dollars per month (less than one dollar per day) for the eleven month period, I
will have nearly met my goal. I am
praying for both monthly donations and one-time gifts, and both will help
spread the love of Christ around the world.
If you do choose to give
financially, you may write a check and make it payable to Adventures in
Missions and return the response card with your donation to Robby Smith 100
Beaver Pointe Drive Winterville, GA 30683.
The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to
send you a receipt for your donation.
I thank you for your
support and hope that you will prayerfully consider joining me in
ministry. I will call you within one to
two weeks to answer questions and follow up on your decision. Please follow me on my trip through my blog
at robbysmith.theworldrace.org. You can
also learn more about the World Race at www.theworldrace.org.
In Christ,
