As the work day comes to an end, I am 4 days closer to my last day of work. This is a bitter-sweet moment. I am thrilled to walk away from the day to day of a 9-5 or in my case, a 10-6, job. I am thrilled to walk into the life of total and complete unknown and trust in the Lord. I am however sad that I will be leaving a family that I have grown to love and admire. Five years ago, while I was 400 miles away at college, the Lord put it in my mother’s heart that I would work for Betenbough Homes. When my mom told me that, I laughed and said, “Really? Doing what…selling houses?” Oh how God has a sense of humor! Three years ago I moved home and after working in social services I began to seek what it was that God wanted. Where was it that He was telling me to go. I spent several months being a full time volunteer because I was not going to take another job that I did not feel completely led to take. One morning I woke up early and felt the Lord telling me, ” What do you have to lose?” So I emailed a short letter to Betenbough Homes explaining to them who I was and what I was looking for. I didn’t hear anything back and finally took a job with a Children’s Shelter. I loved that job. After working there for about a month, I received a call from the Sales Director of Betenbough Homes. After about of month of Yes and No’s, I was finally offered a position. I won’t go into details, but I really did NOT think it was going to happen. So here I am, a few short days away from saying Good-Bye to the family that showed me that Corporate America CAN stand FIRMLY ON THE WORD OF GOD. I thank them and mostly I thank God for speaking it to my mother and speaking it to me even in the years when I had pulled so far away from Him! Even when I did not want to recognize that I was a daughter of the Almighty, even then, He was preparing a way for me to be here, right here, right now, to work in a place that desires and lives according to the Word of God, so that I would have the opportunity to travel the world speaking The Gospel to those who have heard and those who have not heard! What a blessing!
