When you talk to a bride to be, what do you see and hear? I usually hear excitement, true joy, and love for her groom. I look at a bride and see love and joy flowing through her. There is so much anticipation for what’s to come. The big day is approaching and it’s exciting. She can’t wait to walk down that aisle and meet her best friend!

God has called us into a love/bride relationship. This time is a time of engagement. When you look at the church and body of believers what do you see? Do you see excitement, pure joy, or anticipation of meeting our groom? Are we fired up to meet our groom? When many unbelievers look at the body of believers they see bride’s with cold feet, people who live life like they do. They aren’t seeing the excitement and pure joy of a group of people waiting to meet their groom. Why? Where is our excitement? We say Jesus is our first love, but do we act that out in our daily lives? God is yearning for us, he is jealous for us!! If that doesn’t make you excited what does?

I ask this because this month I have been fasting from internet, and God has put this on my heart. Why do we fast and do we do it for the right reasons? I had many times this month that I was tempted to break my fast and go back to internet. Why would I do that? Because internet, facebook, email is such a passion of mine. It actually takes up a lot of space in my heart. So if that takes up a lot of room, where does God fit in? Is there room for God only when I am not online or don’t have access to internet regularly? The point of fasting is a means to long for Christ. Fasting is giving up what is good and being obedient. It is loosening our grip on our idols so we can tighten our grip on things of God. What has grabbed your heart? I am praying that God will change my passions. When I get back online am I going to go back to exactly what I did before or will I be less passionate of it?

Did you ever consider that Christ proposed to us when we were at our worst? When we were dirty and full of shame and things of the world he came to us. Doesn’t that make you want him more? God is waiting for you, now you just have to run to him and be that bride that is excited and ready to marry the love of your life!!!

Rejoice, again I say rejoice!!
