[Written Day 1 in Antigua]

There is only one word I can find to describe how my heart felt as I departed from the US yesterday… peaceful.
It’s a good feeling. I’m right where I’m supposed to be.
And at the moment, that happens to be sitting on a balcony that doubles as the kitchen/dining room of our hostel in Antigua, Guatemala. Just hanging out with my teammate Dan, listening to some chill music and the rolls of thunder, enjoying the smell of the rain and the beautiful foliage we’re surrounded by while looking through our pictures and writing our first blogs from the nations! Life is pretty sweet today.
Yesterday I flew from IND to LAX and arrived to find this:

B Squad had taken over terminal B!
We managed to all get checked in and through security without too many hiccups, and then waited to board our red-eye flight to Guatemala City. I caught a few hours of sleep on the flight, and then after clearing customs we all piled into three vans headed for Antigua!
An hour later we pulled up to our awesome hostel, Mochilero International and were greeted with screams, big hugs and lots of laughs by our team leaders, squad leaders and team  finance people, who  flew out a day early for some training.

Our whole squad is together here in Antigua until Wednesday for some training and preparation time. Today has consisted of a quick orientation in the town square (where the locals lined up to sit directly in front of us and stared at us the entire time), exploring the city, a trip to the market, my first Guatemalan cup of café con leche (amazing!) cooking our first team lunch and now some free time to blog and rest before we get to sit under the teaching of Michael Hindes, World Race director, later this evening.
Peace. Goodness. A full heart. Anticipation of what’s to come. Knowing that I’m right where I belong. It’s so good.
