As of today, Thursday, June 26, 2014, I have only three more days left in Kansas City.
I have only three more days left of ‘normalcy’.
I have only three more days left of convenience.
I have only three more days left of ‘comfort’.
I have only three more days left of luxury.
I have only three more days left of living the average Christian life, in an average city, with an average job. I have only three more days left of choosing a lukewarm walk with my Lord, a lackadaisical approach to living in Him, and a lackluster approach to His love.
I have only three more days left of worrying “what will others think?”, “how will this affect me?” and “how can I get more?”. I have only three more days of comfort, luxury and convenience that far exceeds my basic needs, and bleeds into the excessive.
That’s not to say that I will miss some of those things (I never thought I could miss a truck…but man, I think I will.) I’m just excited to, three days from now, be more in tune with how the rest of the world actually lives. I’m excited to live like the lowly, even though the lowly are the majority. I’m excited to reminisce about my truck, but then remember that my host family can’t afford a donkey, let alone something to drive.
I have only three more days before, on Sunday, June 29, 2014, my family and I fly to Altanta, GA for Launch. Once we get there, I will have only two days left with my family. I say goodbye to them on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. I will continue my Launch while they spend some much needed vacation time around the Atlanta area.
On Thursday, July 3, 2014, I leave the United States and fly to the Dominican Republic where I will be working in Las Lajas, DR, leading a teen summer camp and english camp at H.O.P.E. DR. (Fun fact, I’ll be sleeping in my tent for the whole month! Hardcore from the get go.)
So, today, Thursday, June 26, I sit in my room, packing up my things for my trip.
In a week, on Thursday, July 3, I will be sitting on a Dominican mountainside, and my adventure will begin.
(P.S. Most likely, the next post on this blog will be from the Dominican Republic! Woo!)
Right now, I am 75% funded, which is an unbelievable blessing and such a testament to your generosity and the Lord’s faithfulness. I honestly did not expect to be 75% funded at this point. My hope and wish is to be fully funded as soon as possible; being fully funded would relieve me of worrying about fundraising while on the field, and would let me focus more on the ministry. Simply put, being fully funded makes life easier on the Racer. I want to thank you for your generous support and gracious giving; your giving is a ministry to myself, my team and my squad. We can’t do this without you. Click here to support me!
