From Don, Reid’s blessed Dad. (with pictures added by Reid)
Reid said that I could write something for his blog, but I could not say what an outstanding, awesome, super son he is . . . so I won’t. Instead, I will focus on my son, a World Racer, and what it means to me.

(My Dad and I golfing. We don’t keep score because we’re that…good.)
First and foremost, it means that God is good and He is faithful. When we seek Him and His plans for our lives, He will lead us on the path He has laid out for us. It will often take patience and persistence, as God’s ways and timing often differ from our expectations. As Reid began to consider mission possibilities a couple of years ago, he gave God room to work. He talked to many people, researched many ministries and mission organizations, prayed and then was patient and persistent. I believe Reid’s faithfulness to his call to missions pleased God, and God rewarded Reid with the World Race. How exciting, 11 countries in 11 months! Our family has been blessed to travel some internationally, but this is travel on a completely different level! I am very pleased for Reid (and proud). He will bless many, and will be blessed in ways he can’t imagine.
(Three generations of Mason men.)
What this also means to me is that Reiders, my ‘A #1 son’ will be gone 11 months . . . nearly a year. I will miss him greatly. We have a great relationship and share many things in common, including a sense of humor, sports, motorcycles, a men’s ministry group and a passion for the Bible (maybe I should have put the Bible first!). I can share concerns and issues with Reid, and I trust his wisdom and insight. We can just hang together, shooting some hoops, tinkering with our motorcycles, playing a little golf, whatever. He is fun to be around, and one of the joys of my life.
(He’s the best.)
So, while it took patience and persistence for Reid to find the World Race, it will take the same for me during his 11 months abroad. Reider, you know you have my blessing, but also know I will be eager for your return.
