We are now in Month 7. That is so hard to believe. The time is flying by and I think it will only go by even faster. This month is our ATL (Ask the Lord) month. As a team we get together and pray about a country in Western Africa that we feel led to go to and also about what ministry we feel we should do. We also prayed about what other team we should work with.
Well…all that said and done…we are in Lome, Togo. We are working alongside Team Rhema and we are partnering and working alongside Mercy Ships. We are staying in a small hotel right on the coast. Everyday we go down to the port and go aboard the huge ship. Africa Mercy Ships is basically a Christian medical relief ship. I have not really heard a lot about them before but their ministry and the work they do is absolutely amazing and you should definitely check them out online. You can just google Mercy Ships. They are currently in port in Togo for about 6 months. It is incredible what all they do. There are volunteers and staff working on the ship from all over the world. People come in for two weeks or up to two years and more.
Our two teams have been divided up and are working in different areas of the ship. I am working in the dining room primarily. I help serve the food to the workers (around 400 people on the ship), I wash dishes, mop, clean, stock the food, and so on. I absolutely LOVE it. It is such a wonderful environment. The ship is amazing in how it functions and runs in itself. The people are incredible. I love what I get to do everyday. This so far is my favorite thing that I have gotten to do.
We are here for the rest of this month. It is going wonderful so far. Please continue to keep us in prayer. We do have some people that are dealing with different sicknesses from malaria, to the flu, to worms, to small infections. Everyone is OK but the different sicknesses are more of a hassel than anything. Please just keep us all in prayer for safety and health. And also that we would continue to press into all that God wants to be teaching us and showing us this month.
But so far, it is AMAZING!
