Saturdays at New Horizons, the ministry that we are living
at, is a huge day. The facilities
are opened up to all the children ages 9-18 in the community. This is a very busy day for us
here. Let me try and paint out a
picture of what the day looks like for us.
The
boys come in the morning 9-12. They have games, songs, bible study, more games, snacks. It is just a wonderful time for the
kids to relax and have fun in a safe and Godly environment. The girls come from 1-4. They also have songs, games, bible
study, crafts, and snack.
One
really cool part of all this is that the leaders of this are teenagers or young
adults in the community. It is so
awesome because the kids get to see the older “cool” teenagers lead them in the
activities, in Bible Study, and how to have fun without getting involved in
drugs or violence. It is amazing
to watch. It has been a blessing
to be a part of this ministry, to see what God is doing here. Because it is great that we are here
and I am happy to help in whatever area we can…but these kids are the ones that
are going to change this community. Teaching the kids about God at a young age, watching them grow and
mature into leaders of the other kids, and maturing into adults who can then
teach their kids about God. It is
an awesome set-up and ministry that is going on here.
