Enoch – He works at New Horizons. He handles all the maintenance and yard work. He is an extremely hard worker. He has a huge passion for the
Lord. He often just wants to sit
with us and share what is on his heart. You could end up sitting there with him for 2 hours and sometimes
through translation it is hard to understand what he is saying. But there is no doubt that he loves the
Lord and wants to just fellowship with us. He has been a huge blessing to our team. I believe he wants to make us donuts
one night while we are here too, so we are looking forward to that.

Freddie – He is 24. He lives right close to New Horizons. He, his wife, and their four month old son are a wonderful,
God fearing and loving family. We
have had the opportunity to get to know them, talk, and share meals with
them. We have been working with
him on getting some sound equipment to help teach the kids with. We also visited his church on
Sunday. He leads worship there and
it was amazing. The people were so
open and welcoming. The atmosphere
was one of just freedom in serving and worshiping the Lord. They had a dance team with flags and tambourines
and it was beautiful to watch. Although the songs were in Spanish, we actually knew a few of them so it
was awesome to be able to worship with them in that way. Their church really loves the Lord and
we were blessed to be a part of it and hope to be able to go back.

Tanya – She is a beautiful 5-year-old girl. Her mother is actually also her
sister. The father raped his
daughter when she was 15 years old and she had Tanya. It is a miracle that she did not have any physical or mental
issues from that. But Tanya is
just a wonderful and active little girl that is around New Horizons pretty much
everyday. Tim has taken a special
interest in hanging out with her and just loving on her.

Megan – She is one of the teachers at the school. She is originally from the States and
has been living and working here for about 4 years. I have had the opportunity to help her out at school and
with some of the other program she runs. I have enjoyed getting to talk with her and I hope to continue to get to
know her and that I can be an encouragement and friend to her over this month.

Jeremy – He is
a 9 year old boy that comes to New Horizons. He was here on Saturday for the big day. Some of the kids were swinging on
swings and he ran up grabbed on, then flew off the swing and the hill and
landed at the bottom on his head and hands. He ended up breaking both of his wrists in multiple
places. It was quite traumatic at
the time, but a miracle that he did no damage to his head or neck. He was taken to the hospital
immediately, Jory and Sean (our squad leader) got to go with him and he got
casts put on both arms and is doing much better now. That incident kind of shook everyone up but I am glad that
we were able to be here and help out.

These are just a few of the people we have had the
opportunity to meet in the first week of being here. Continue to pray that these relationships would continue to
flourish and be God –centered and that He would be glorified through them.
