Life is different.
Mat 18:3 “Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like a little child, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Things have been very different this month in Cambodia. I almost feel as if I were in America doing missions. Ministry was really different this month as well. At Good Shepherd Orphanage, we taught for an hour and a half in the morning and an hour and a half in the evening Monday through Wednesday. At Love In Action, we taught for an hour a day Thursday and Friday and 3 hours on Saturday. A lot of things fell through so we had to make do with the time we had. We were able to teach a few bible stories a week as well as a lot of English to the kids (At Good Shepherd).
The ministry at Good Shepherd was really different from Love in Action. First of all, the children at Good Shepherd are permanent residents. Which means that Good Shepherd keeps the children until graduation. Adoption is not an option. Good Shepherd wants to keep the children and raise them up in the Lord and then send them out. They don’t want the children to be adopted by a family and then be converted back to Buddhism. The kids there are all sponsored by families in the states. They are partnered with a church in Virginia. It is really awesome to see the people and how on fire they are for God. If you remember me talking about Winn in a previous blog, She helps run the orphanage along with her son (The pastor) and granddaughter ( Rachel- The teacher). They all live at the orphanage and help take care of it. UT us such a loving environment and I am excited to hear more stories about the children and lives that will be changed through the kids from this orphanage.
Love in Action was a little less organized that Good Shepherd. The children were a little more unruly and a little more rough around the edges. We never had the chance to meet the person in charge. She was always busy and never made an appearance. I suppose she is a busy woman, but, I would want to meet the people who were going to work with the kids I was in charge of, if it were me.
The kids at Love in Action were sweet though. Even though they had scabies, lice and other things, they still loved having us there. They would put on little shows while they sang worship songs and they loved playing games.
Although it felt as if this month was unproductive, I know that God had his plans. HE knew what we were going to do and He knew that we needed to love on these kids, no matter how different they were from one another.
Keep checking back for my Cambodia Video! It is a work in progress and I will post it soon!
Mat 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”
