Don’t pray for God to hit you with a 2 by 4 unless you mean it.
When I pray, I ask God to hit me with a 2 by 4 to let me know it is really him. He thinks it is funny to do so. I can see him playing the song for me… “Hit me with your best shot, fire away”. And then WHAM! I got what I prayed for. Not in the exact way I would have hoped, but none the less the 2 by 4 came and hit me right when I needed it it.
Let me give an example… (Caution- The following things may shock you)
I am terrible when it comes to having any type of relationship. I don’t really know how to be in one let alone how to make one last.
I ‘dated’ maybe 3 guys in my life. They made me nervous and I prayed about each one of them. I asked God to reveal himself and to show me if they were really the right person for me. Each time, God hit me with that 2 by 4. You’ d think that I would learn by now. LOL.
Each person and situation was different, but God’s plan is better than all of that.
I am not going to go into much detail about the 3 people so that i don’t slander their name and make them look like the bad person in the relationship, because I was just as much at fault as they were.
I am proud to say that I am savcing myself for my husband and I have stayed that way because of Christ. I know that I would have never made it this far without Him.
Each relationship never last more than a few weeks. God didn’t want to see my heart break, and I didn’t want to feel my heart break. One out of the 3 hurt me enough to make me really cry about the relationship, but only for a night. Nothing huge. I am so amazed by God.
Psalms 6:4
Turn, O LORD, and deliver me;
save me because of your unfailing love.
Psalms 13:5
But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
Psalms 36:7
How priceless is your unfailing love!
Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Psalms 44:26
Rise up and help us; redeem us because of your unfailing love.
Psalms 48:9
Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.
Lamentations 3:32
Though he brings grief,
he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.
Hosea 10:12
Sow for yourselves righteousness,
reap the fruit of unfailing love,
and break up your unplowed ground;
for it is time to seek the LORD,
until he comes and showers righteousness on you.
AMEN!
This concludes my brief overview of my date life. Thank you Lord for making me see that you are preparing a great spouse for me and love like I have never felt.
P.S.- Keep praying for the 2 by 4’s (Bricks or whatever it is you want God to throw at you) and He will be sure to blow you away! Hallelujah
