Eph.6:13-18

“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” (MSG)
I heard this particular passage this week and it really hit me hard. It is not the traditional version that you hear. Usually it talks about the spiritual armor by naming each piece of armor. This version really hit me though. As this mission trip gets closer, more and more of us on the team are getting attacked in different ways. Satan is trying to find a tiny bit of doubt in our lives and tries to wiggle in there. It is hard sometimes to give it all to God. There is always going to be spiritual warfare somewhere. Satan doesn’t want us to be happy.
On this mission trip,  we are going to be giving a lot of ourselves. There are going to be days that I will be so broken and tired of being on the World Race. There will be many days that I will fall to my knees in desperation. Not knowing what I am supposed to do. Not knowing what my job really it. Not knowing why I am there. Not knowing where we will stay in some of the locations. It will be hard and the devil is going to take that and have a hay day. I will need this armor surrounding me and letting me feel strong in my weakness.  2 Cor. 12:9 says:  “But he said to me, “My grace is enough for you. When you are weak, my power is made perfect in you.” So I am very happy to brag about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can live in me. “ AMEN!
One thing about this armor is that it is stronger and safer when the soldiers are standing close to one another. The shields actually link together and form a safe place. They have a piece on top and it looks like a shield box with everyone inside. I can envision my team standing together on the battlegrounds, linked together and building one another up. Protecting each other in our weaknesses. Where we are weak, another person may be strong. We will be family. We will fall on our knees over and over with each other, giving our lives completely to God.
This will be a great experience and I am excited to see my team, battle-ready and in full armor with me. 1 Timothy 6:12
