Thank you all for your support and prayers through all of this. Just an update (with pictures… hopefully)… My parents are still living with  me in my apartment and that is a growing process. It is different when you get to wear the shoes of your parents and they have to live by your rules. (Or so we seem to think) I am glad that I did have room available for them to move in. My brother flew back to Iraq on Sunday and it was a bit emotional. I guess that is when it really hit me. My church building was destoyed by the floods as well, so we met at the YMCA. It was amazing how many people showed up in yhe midst of their struggles.  We had about 40-50 people come worship with us. Our average is around 60 or so. I would say 90% of those who came were affeted by the floods. Some who lost their homes and contents completely and those who lost their basements and first floors. It was really heartbreaking. but at the same time, it was amazing. People were coming and praising God 2 days after they were let into their destroyed homes. I am a lead worshipper (not a worship leader) and as I started to sing, I started to weep. not for the things that I lost, but to know that God is there. He is ALWAYS there. Even when everything we own is gone, God is there to hold us close. I had to stay in the back as I continued to weep during worship. The songs we sang brought on new meaning. It was just so refreshing and cleansing.
With that said, here are some pictures.
