Hola! Como Estas? Como te llamas? Cuantos anos tienes? Yep.that is about how far my Spanish vocabulary takes me:) Just kidding, but it doesn’t go much further. Conversations have been getting easier and easier here. The other day on the walk home from a village, I decided that I was not going to speak English anymore. It is amazing how well you can learn a new language if you have no other means of communication! The no speaking English didn’t last very long…Please keep praying that the Lord would break through the language barrier and gives us opportunities to share His amazing love with his people.

Task, task, task, task. I have come to realize that I am a very task orientated person and am living in a very relationship driven cultural.  We no longer have “real” time, we have “fake” time in which relationships take precedence over tasks.  I have been praying to be fully in the moment appreciating each person He has placed in my path, even if it takes a lot longer to accomplish a specific task.

On Saturday we had an amazing day off spent in San Juan visiting a couple of other teams on C squad as well as enjoyed tacos with our Squad leader, Holly.  It was a great opportunity to evaluate the week as well as prepare for the upcoming week. I really can’t believe we have only been here a week!

We will be teaching bible lessons to the compassion students in the morning this week as well as doing some house visits for members of the church, taking time to make relationships and pray with them.  We will also be teaching an English class on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.  Last Thursday my teammate, Suzanne and I had the opportunity of teaching this vs. that and these vs. those, as well as how to ask how much things are in a store.  It was a pretty entertaining experience for the rest of our teammates as we were speaking very slowly and loudly.

Prayer Requests: We visited a village on Friday that has no church presence and has not heard the Gospel. We are going there on the 30th to clean the church building as well as preach. Please be praying people will come and their hearts will be opened to receive the Gospel.
Pray that in our teaching English we would be able to form deep relationships with the students and show them the love of Christ.
Pray that my teammates and I would not get burnt out on going, going, going, but that we would take time to spend in the Word being refreshed daily.
Pray that I would continue to adapt to the culture and not be anxious about not getting things done when I think they should get done.  Pray that I would allow the Spirit to move me and invest in relationships over getting things done.

Here is a video of our race so far…enjoy!!!
