What do you think of when you hear the word reckless? I think of reckless driving..being reckless with your money…But reckless faith..what does that even mean or look like?

Well lets start with the definition of reckless: utterly unconcerned about the consequence of some action; without caution; careless.

I recently read the book Reckless Faith: Let Go and Be Led written by Beth Guckenberger. She effectively protrays what it looks like to live a life with reckless faith.  Beth and her husband, Todd established a ministry that helps orphans in Mexico.  They left everything in the United States. Their family, jobs, and comfort to live out their faith in Jesus.

Through this book the Lord opened my eyes to stories in which He preforms miracles, shows how he cares for his peple and uses his people that are willing to step out in faith for Him.

A few quotes that hit home for me…

"Reckless Faith doesn't need man's approval or man's money."
Overall, I am a people pleaser. I like to make people happy. I want people to agree with and support my life decisions. BUT, I have come in contact with people that do not support me in going on the World Race and have stated that they think it is not a good idea or a wise choice for my life. The faith that I have in Jesus Christ does not need man's approval. I need to follow what I believe the Lord is leading me to. Reckless Faith.

"The truth is, the closer I grow to God, the more experiences and knowledge I accumulate, the more reckless I desire to live ."

"To follow the voice of the Guide is to let go of our own agenda and throw ourselves towards his. How much more reckless can you get than that?"
Through going on the World Race I am longing to be thrown into the Lord's agenda.  The question at hand is: Does it take going to 11 different countries in 11 months to live recklessly for Jesus OR can it start today? I believe the Lord is calling me to live recklessly right now with my time. Am I so set to my schedule that I fail to see the Lord's people who are hurting or in need? I pray today that he would lead to me those in need-opening my eyes to them- and living recklessly through giving up my own agenda.

How is the Lord calling you to be reckless?  With your time? Money? Living arrangements? Ask the Lord to reveal to you where he wants you to be reckless today!
