In high school I was diagnosed with allergen and exercise induced asthma. Basically if I lost my breath I could get a mild attack so even laughing hard could trigger one. In the last three years I have not owned an inhaler and cannot remember the last time I used one. However, I was thinking it would probably be smart to bring one on the Race just in case.

I do not have insurance and money is tight so I left it up to God. Actually this one was a conscious, “I can’t buy an inhaler so if You want me to bring one You need to supply” not just avoiding making a decision.

Last week Dad woke up coughing and couldn’t clear his lungs. The doc said he had bronchitis, prescribed antibiotics, and handed him an inhaler just in case. He never used the inhaler because that afternoon, and in the days since, he has felt fine and not coughed once.

Yesterday I took the inhaler with me into town and asked a pharmacist if I could use it. She went and found the brand of inhaler I used to use, compared the boxes, and said, “I cannot tell you to take your dad’s prescription. However, I can tell you that these inhalers have the same medication and are basically the same dosage.”

God gave me an inhaler for the Race. A FREE INHALER. Now I pray I never need it. 🙂
