Cambodia is a stark contrast from all the countries I have traveled to so far. It is covered in farmland of which most is rice. Dirt roads, houses on stilts, half naked babies, and the crowing of the morning roosters have become a norm for me. We are in bed by 9 and up at the rising of the sun. The closest city is around 2 hours from our property and internet is out of reach. We have the basics, and I am learning that the basics are more than enough.

This month our team is traveling to a nearby village. While there we visit homes and teach three different English courses. If you know English in this country you are a step above the rest of your fellow Cambodians. It creates better opportunity, and opens doors for you to get a good education.

I love the heart of our contact Vuthy. He has a vision for this village he was born in to become known as a village full of believers. He wants to create a place for children to come and receive an education. He wants to change the nation of Cambodia. I see that He does not just have a vision, but he has a plan. It is God’s promise for Him and he is seeking the fulfillment of the promise.

He not only has a plan, but He has forsaken all else to follow through with it. You hear about persecution in America, but you don't know about it from a personal journey through it. What if every one you have ever known excommunicates you? Would you still go against your culture or norm in your family? People thought Vuthy was crazy for wanting to start english schools in the village. They told him he would not be able to do it. He held on to the promise though. He saw through the giants in the land, and walked in faith. Now look where they are teaching over 200 students.
