It is getting cold here and it feels as though it could snow any day now. When you are on the race there is not much you can do other than learn to layer every article of clothing you currently own including those that should have been washed a week ago. Hot tea has become my best friend, and I have grown used to my time spent in morning with the Father being accompanied by a cup. As I sip in the warmth I am reminded that the words that I read bring and even greater warmth to my spirit.

As elections have come and gone once again, God has been teaching me about my citizenship. Most would say I am a citizen of the United States of America, which is true by earthly standards. However, God asked me if I was willing to deny my earthly citizenship for something greater.

Are you willing to be a citizen not of this earth but of heaven?

As I read scripture God shows me people like Paul who see not what is temporary, but instead what is eternal. He was willing to deny his citizenship in Rome. He was even willing to be tortured and thrown into jail when all he had to say is I am a citizen of this so called great nation-Rome. Most would have taken the easy way out. Most would have used their earthly status to pull rank. Paul on the other hand knew that torture and prison soon shall pass, but not His sonship in heaven.  (Read Acts 17)

I think it’s about time we realize that we are not citizens of this earth but of heaven. I will deny my citizenship here if it means living in my true citizenship as a daughter of the King of Kings.

As I was thinking about my earthly citizenship and so of course I thought first of the most obvious being that I am from the United States. Here is the thing we claim citizenship in many things outside of that obvious citizenship. We must also deny these citizenships too. You might be thinking Rebecca what are you talking about so let me explain. We claim titles like boss, leader, Parent, etc. None of these things are bad just like it is not bad for me to be an American; however, my true inhabitance or place of identity is in heaven.

Sunsets and mountains are some of my favorite reminders of Heaven so I thought it appropriate to post a few that I have taken while on the race and even some from before I started this Journey because even though I might not have known it at times God still calls me His daughter. He will never leave nor forsake me!
