Dear Friends and Family
Hello! I hope this letter finds you well. I am so excited to share with you what God has been doing in my life lately. I have just finished earning my Associates Degree in Social Sciences from the College of Southern Maryland. I also work as a page at the Leonardtown Library along with babysitting and housesitting. I serve at church through the AWANA program which is has also been a blessing to me. God has been using and teaching me in so many ways recently but, lately He has been calling me in a particular direction. This is through a calling toward the mission field. I have recently been accepted to “The World Race” serving alongside an organization called Adventures in Mission. With them I will be backpacking as an ambassador for Christ around the world!
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries. I will be leaving for this journey on August 1, 2011. My team and I will be partnered with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the gospel, work with orphans, minister to women trapped in prostitution in red light districts in Asia, teach English, and gypsy outreach. I am so excited to share this journey with you!
The thing I want to learn most from this trip is to be selfless; this trip is not about me, it is about spreading the Word to those with no hope, to be God’s hands and feet, and help those who long for salvation. The race is going to scary and challenging. But, I know with God’s strength and the prayers and support from family and friends, this is going to be the most rewarding adventure I have yet to experience.
Now here's the part I know you've been waiting for: how can you get involved? There are a couple of ways. Pray. Pray every time I cross your mind between now and July 2012, because some of the hardest part of this trip is right now, as I work to prepare: deepening my faith, fundraising, building a network of supporters, and figuring out community-living with a bunch of new people, i.e. my team. And then continue to pray during my journey, that I would be responsive to God’s minute-to-minute guidance, that I would be a blessing to those I encounter and to my team. Another way is to talk with me! I'm going to need all the encouragement I can get over the next 16 months and I would love to talk to you about this trip in further detail, as well as hear about your life so I can be praying for you too! Donate. As I mentioned, I'm going to be fundraising through events and support letters like this. You can participate in events or just donate what you can, when you can. I must raise $15,000 in order to go on the World Race, which covers all of my expenses on the field. This financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount and beginning and end date.
I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, inviting you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions and return the response card with your donation to Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog site at: Rebeccafreeman.theworldrace.org. Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed. If you choose to make a donation online please let me know if it was a one-time or monthly donation, there is a contact button on my blog.
I would genuinely appreciate any support you are able to provide! Your support is what is going to make it possible for me to spread God’s love throughout the nations. I will be writing a blog and would love for you to follow me so you can know what’s going on in the field. I know He has something amazing planned for my entire team and the people we will come into contact with during the 11 months we will minister. I really need your prayers during this process. I feel so strongly that Christ has put this on my heart for a reason. I hope that you will prayerfully consider becoming a part of this amazing ministry. I am so grateful to have friends and family like you to support me during this process. Thank you so much in advance.
In Him,
Rebecca Freeman
