A big requirement of being on the World Race is flexibility. Plans constantly change, ministry looks differently than expected, and if you want to thrive your only option is to be adaptable.
That being said, we have a route change!
Initially, we were scheduled to spend 2 weeks in Malaysia, a month in Mongolia, and a month in China. However, the last WR team to apply for visas to China from Malaysia were denied. In addition, our ministry hosts in Mongolia have fallen through.
Instead of panicking, we embraced this as an opportunity to trust that God was going to send us to different countries for different ministry in order to better glorify his kingdom. Our revised schedule for the next two months is as follows:
3 weeks in Malaysia
3 weeks in Indonesia or Sri Lanka
3 weeks in Thailand
The seven teams on the squad were presented with the option of going to either Indonesia or Sri Lanka, and given the task of listening to the Holy Spirit to discern where he wanted to send each of them. Three teams felt called to Indonesia while four teams felt called to Sri Lanka.
My team, God’s Magnolias, is being led to Indonesia. We spent time together and apart in prayer, really seeking what God’s will for those three weeks is. We voted anonymously and our decision was unanimous. We all heard from God differently, but were given the same answer. After overcoming the initial shock and disappointment over losing the chance to experience China and Mongolia, we have now grown closer to God and bonded more as a team through this decision.
I know that whatever God has waiting for us in these countries will be fantastic, and I completely trust that he is guiding us to something greater than we could have ever dreamed in our original plan.
