Saturday night, September 12, was a night filled with prayer for Adi’s extended family. After dinner, Adi and Adam left to play futbol (soccer) with some other Romanians and Americans. Adi’s dad and some other relatives of Adi left later to join the game. Within an hour, Sanda and I got news from a panicking neighbor that Adi’s dad and everyone riding with him was in a car accident. Already most of the village was running toward the accident. Sanda, Matt, and I hurried that direction too. The rest of the team stayed at the house and prayed for those involved in the accident. On our way to the site of the accident, Sanda met up with her extended family, and she got word that a lady who was walking on the shoulder was killed in the accident.
There was mixed communication on who, what, when, how the accident happened, but after arriving at the scene of the accident and after having a chance to hear what was going on from several people, I knew how to pray and what to pray for.
Adi’s dad had injured his neck and the others in the van with him walked away with minor injuries. It was a miracle that everyone in that van came out alive; six people were in that van. If you were there to see the van, you would’ve said, “There’s no way anyone could’ve survived in there.”
Please pray for the family who lost the lady in the accident. Pray also for Adi’s dad, for healing and for his salvation through this. I know God uses every circumstance in life to draw people to Him. I am praying this is the case for Adi’s dad and for Adi’s relatives who were with Adi’s dad. “For I take no pleasure in anyone’s death.’ This is the declaration of the Lord GOD. ‘So repent and live!'” (Ezekiel 18:32)
Tuesday, some gals on my team went with other WR teams in Villa Tecii to pick apples on an apple farm. Matt, Adam, and I stayed at our host family’s house to finish digging the drainage ditch for the shower and continued digging the trench on Wednesday too and installed the remaining drainage pipe.
I had the opportunity to also serve my team medically. With prevailing prayer for healing, laying of hands, and provision of medical care, my teammates experienced a quick turn around to restored health. Praise GOD!
The following treatments are what I used to help my teammates feel better. I learned some of these treatments from my dad and from reading a wilderness medicine book I brought on this trip. In the mild case of dehydration, as one of my team members had, one will have diarrhea, nausea, headaches, and feel weak. Minimze these symptoms with diluted coke (replaces electrolytes from loss due to diarrhea) and stinging nettle teas (to relieve diarrhea) and dandelion teas (for relieve upset stomach). In the case of mild food blotching that some of us experienced, treat symptoms with the BRAT diet: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce (or fresh ripe apples), and Toast. Drink diluted coke or teas with bread and jam for rehydration. I am looking forward to serving my team “family” and others more on this trip with my desire and passion to be a medical missionary.
Saturday was a day of good news. John, the missionary contact, informed us that Adi’s dad was going to get baptized Sunday! Yay, God!
