After an incredible Sunday service, we were invited to a Brazilian lunch that helped raise support for a poor family in Brazil. There was face painting and kid games along with all kinds of Brazilian and Irish foods and desserts.

Then later in the evening we went to Abundant Life church to for a going away party the Irish way!

We left Tuesday to Dublin to catch our flight to Bucherest, Romania.
We arrived at 12am Wednesday and then traveled by bus for 7 hours until we got to our final destinations. I say final destinations because both K and J squads were split up to serve in several villages. My team and a K squad team stayed in Villa Tecii, where our contact lives. We arrived at around lunch time at our host family’s house and a meal of eggs and toast was waiting for us. 🙂

Our host family consist of a young couple (Adi and Sanda) and their 2yr old son David. They live in a house that is divided like a duplex. Adi’s grandma and Adi’s dad live in the duplex with them, while Sanda’s mom and dad and six other siblings live three houses down from where Adi and Sanda live. Villa Tecii is a small village, but mostly families and their extended families that make up the village population.

We are blessed to use drinkable faucet water and well water. Other teams have told me they aren’t that fortunate, although outhouses and bucket baths are shared experiences all around.

For ministry, Adi has been talking with families he knows in the village who may need help. There is a man who Adi introduced to us Thursday who needed help cleaning out his garden and laying a foundation for a new house he wanted to build. Saturday, we helped clean out the garden and then the men on our team followed the man to the house where he was needing the foundation poured. The job will start next Tuesday.

For our host family, we have also been ministering to them too. Some of the ladies on the team would take turns cleaning the kitchen, cooking, and taking care of David when Sanda needed to cook or clean or take a bath. Adam enjoys playing soccer with Adi. Matt would work with Adi on construction projects. Because Matt is so good about project management and seeing to it that projects get done, I have coined him “Foreman”. 🙂

Speaking of projects, there has been talk within our team to build a shower for our host family. I am praying that we get the resources for that.

I am hoping in the weeks staying here in Villa Tecii, we have more ministry opportunities to serve this village, share the Gospel, and as a team, grown in prayer and faith. I also hope to get to know Sanda better and share the love of God with her and encourage her to grow in knowing God more. Please be praying for me and my team for those things.
