After ten days of intense spiritual and
physical and mental training, I was completely undone. The WR staff
challenged each team member to surrender expectations and rights for
the long journey ahead. That was hard for me to do. But now, after
understanding what Jesus surrendered for the payment of my sins and for
the restoration of a once again pure and perfect relationship with Him
and God the Father, I CAN surrender my expectations and my rights. I
can do all these things through Christ Jesus who gives me strength
(Philippians 4:13). The only true expectation I have for this journey
is for God to use me for His glory. The only true right I have is the
right to love God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength and to
love my neighbor as myself. That’s why I am going on this mission trip:
to love God by obeying Him in The Great Commission and to love my
neighbor enough to share the Gospel of God’s grace and forgiveness that
upon receiving the message will transform their life.
