My squad mates have been posting 50 things about themselves so we can get to know each other! Here’s my 50:

1. I’m 4’11” and I love being short. It would be weird if I was tall. Trust me.

2. People always tell me that I give good hugs, which is great, because I love giving hugs! So if you ever want a hug, I’m your girl.

3. With that said, physical touch is my primary love language. It’s good and bad. Please be straightforward with me if you don’t like being touched.

4. I gravitate toward children. I’m the girl who plays with every child in the restaurant or store. I just seriously love kids.

5. It’s a pretty strong desire of mine to eventually adopt a child. I might even want to foster. One day…

6. I drive a green Saturn Ion named Ezekiel, and yes, after the prophet. I call him Zeke for short.

7. Communication is very important to me. I pick up pretty well on social cues, but I appreciate direct communication. Tell me how you feel, what you want or what you don’t want. And if you ever feel like I’m not communicating with you well, please just tell me. I want to be good at communication.

8. I don’t claim to be a good singer, but I really enjoy singing and I’ve always done it. I was in chorus for all four years of high school, and helped lead worship in my youth group band. I’m pretty much constantly singing, so I apologize in advance for the random outbursts of song. Oh, and I also like to white girl rap. Sorry for that too.

9. December is going to be a rough month for me on the Race because I absolutely love the Christmas season, and I have never been away from my family for Christmas. To give you a picture of how much I love Christmas: I organized a grassroots Christmas caroling group to sing carols on the last day of classes of each fall semester and passed candy canes out in the library during finals week for all four years of college.

10. It is a legitimate dream of mine to work as an elf at a mall for at least one Christmas season. I just want to spread some cheer.

11. I am a morning person. I love getting up early, spending some time with Jesus, and getting a ton of things accomplished before noon! But I can usually stay up pretty late too. It’s just the afternoons that get to me, which stinks because I’m not much of a napper.

12. I just graduated from the University of Florida. Go Gators! Man, I love that place.

13. God basically handed me my major – public relations, and I never changed it! He is so faithful.

14. I was in a Christian sorority called Sigma Phi Lambda for all four years of college, and I served as the president during my senior year. It was one of the most challenging, amazing experiences of my life and I grew so much in my faith and as a person because of it. I love my Phi Lamb sisters!

15.. My house in Boca Raton, Fl. is literally a 10 minute walk from the beach. I live a street away from A1A, which is pretty awesome because I love the beach.

16. I can’t ride a bike. I used to know how, but I swear that I forgot, or lost my balancing ability, or something. I don’t care who says “You can never forget how to ride a bike.” I did.

17. I like to rewrite songs to fit the moment that I’m in or the thing that I’m experiencing. It’s a quirk of mine.

18. I love books and poetry and the thought of reading, but I rarely do it. I’m hoping to change that.

19. I love coffee. And local, non-chain coffee shops. Basically, I’m not the biggest fan of Starbucks.

20. During my sophomore year of college, God actually showed me how coffee had been an idol in my life, and I gave it up for the entirety of my hardest semester. During that time, I saw God truly sustain and deliver me. Now, I have to constantly keep myself in check when it comes to my coffee intake, but I still drink it a lot.

21. I’ve been on three other mission trips, and all of them were very different. I’ve been to Zambia with Global Expeditions, Guatemala with some of my sorority sisters, and Uganda with a nonprofit called OneHope International.

22. I have trouble spending more than $20 on any one thing.

23. I do a lot of thrifting. It’s how my mama raised me. My closet is primarily composed of items bought at thrift stores.

24. I have worked in the dining room of a retirement home on-and-off since April 2006. Working with the elderly has truly increased my patience and given me a great appreciation for that demographic of people and their wisdom.

25. I was an SGA kid in high school. SGA secretary to be exact.

26. I come alive on the dance floor. I’m not really a good dancer, but I give it my all. I’m ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS ready for a dance party.

27. Nicki Minaj knows who I am. Well, atleast she knows what I look like with a blue wig on. I may as well get this out in the open now… In the beginning of this year, a YouTube video that my friends and I made parodying the song “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj went viral for some inexplicable reason. It was one of the most bizarre experiences of my life, and I still don’t understand it but I trust that God was glorified somehow. Maybe Nicki will support my WR!? Probably not, but I do plan to tweet at her…just in case.

28. My dad was in the Air Force when I was born, so I was born on Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas. Go Air Force!

29. If there’s an occasion – I dress to it. Football game? You’d better believe I’m school spirited. Holiday? I’m wearing the colors. Themed party? I’m going all out in a full out costume!

30. Actually, one of my special life skills is resourceful costume making. I’m proud of my ability to pull a costume together out of some paint and a cardboard box or a pillowcase and hot glue. Some of my favorite costumes have been: A dreidel, coffee, a Christmas carol, Princess Jasmine, Audrey Hepburn, Italy and a sunflower.

31. Basically, you could consider me a creative person.

32. I was an RA in college, and I absolutely loved it. I loved making bulletin boards, working with my staff, building community, and loving on my residents!

33. I don’t like mushrooms, eggs, or any kind of seafood. I have a feeling we’re going to have to eat some of that though, so I’m just going to have to suck up my preferences when it comes to the race. I have another feeling that this is an area where God will bring a lot of growth. He provides my daily bread!

34. I like laughing. Therefore, I like people who make me laugh, which is not hard to do. I think I have a pretty good sense of humor.

35.  I am thoroughly amused by cheesy pickup lines and corny jokes.

36. However, I also really appreciate deep, intellectual conversation. Especially when it’s about God.

37. Proper grammar and punctuation are important to me.

38. For the most part, I’m not annoyed or angered easily. It takes a lot to get under my skin. Thank you Lord.

39. I don’t speak any other languages. I have a very basic understanding of Spanish, even though I took Spanish classes for most of my life. I can still speak Gibberish though. You know? That language we used in middle school…

40. After following Jesus for almost 9 years, I recently got baptized on March 24, 2012. I would love to tell you the story of how I battled my pride, my need for approval from others and Satan’s lies to be obedient to the Holy Spirit’s direction and put those things to death! So excited about the new thing God is doing in me!

41. My spiritual gifts are faith and service. Thank you Lord!

42. I wear Pink Sugar perfume on a daily basis, and people often tell me that I smell good. But I won’t be bringing my perfume on the Race, and I’m pretty sure I won’t be smelling very good for the next year. Sorry.

43. In case you didn’t pick up on it, I forgot to mention that I am an extreme extrovert. I definitely get my energy from being around people.

44. But I need my alone time too. I have introverted moments. They’re rare, but please just give them to me. I think it comes from being an only child.

45. I’m not really one to get homesick, but 11 months is a long time. To be honest, I’m a little nervous.

46. I’ve never broken a bone.

47. My birthday is July 11. Also known as Free Slurpee Day! I’ll be turning 22 right before training camp and 23 right before we return from the race.

48. I enjoy literally every type of music. Every type – from country to screamo to classical to 90s pop to show tunes to Spirit-filled worship music to whatever else there is out there. And I know a lot of lyrics to a lot of songs, although I’m not sure how I learned them.

49. I love sharing about the lessons that God has taught me and the amazing things He has done in my life, and I love hearing other peoples’ stories! I can’t wait for us to mutually encourage each other with what God has done in our lives up until now.

50. My feelings about the World Race fluctuate every day. Some days I battle fear and worry about what I am leaving behind, but ultimately I am so confident that the Lord is calling me on the World Race with all of you. I am excited and humbled to be a part of this body and what God is about to do! I love you all already.
