Happy Holidays!

Last week I spent the week holding and playing with beautiful children.  These tiny humans were such a joy, and I was blessed to spend the week with them.  At first I was intimidated and knew the work would be challenging, but God had our team there for a reason.  Ecclesiastes 3:1 says,  “Everything has its own time, and there is a specific time for every activity under heaven.”

These children aren’t just any children.  Most of them have been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy or another life altering diagnoses.  Meaning that most of them can not walk, talk, or eat on their own.  I’ve had little experience working with special needs children, so it was a very new experience.

I’m very glad that God placed our team here in Quito, and that we got to work with Camp Hope.  These little children taught me so much about love. Every day was hard and I was tired, but when I saw how much these little children have to endure, I realized that I had nothing to complain about.

Working with them was a very humbling experience.  Many of these kids unfortunately are orphans, but they were always smiling.  It reminded me that I have been blessed with so much, and how important it is to show the love of Christ.

Life is so fragile and there’s so much brokenness all around us, but God has such a glorious plan for His creation.  One day He is going to restore all the brokenness.  There is so much hope in Him, and He loves us so much.

Working with the kids came at the most perfect time. It made me remember why I choose to come out to South America.  It also reminded me of why Christmas is so important.  The birth of the Savior came to save us all.  I hope 2016 was filled with blessings for everyone and that everyone’s Christmas was filled with love.  I know that God has shown me so much of his love over the year, and He keeps unleashing grace all over my life.  I love seeing Him in all the little things.  Like the little faces of Camp Hope.

Here’s to 2017.  I hope we get to see Jesus in every moment of it.
