Guyana! Wow! What a beautiful country, that I knew so little about before coming.  Guyana is a small country in South America that has so much beauty to offer.  The country has little population, but has miles and miles of thick rain forest all through it.

We arrived in Georgetown, Guyana on the 14th of September.

The whole squad was together trying to apply for our Brazilian visas.  Thankfully after lots of paperwork and time we received our visas and can now enter into Brazil!! In Georgetown as a squad we got to do a lot of fellowshipping together.  It was a beautiful time of building relationships and preparing for our next ministry hosts.  While in Georgetown I decided to cut all my hair off!! I needed some change.  It is very hot here and the long hair was just to hard to manage.

We left for Bartica, Guyana on the 21st.  We took an hour bus ride, which for me the bus rides take an incredible about of faith.  They drive buses like race cars.  Then we crammed all of our stuff on a little speedboat with about 30 other people, and took off for Bartica.

Bartica is the cutest little town. It is bright and colorful and everyone is very friendly.  We are staying in Pastor Mohammad Yasin’s missionary home, where he host missionary teams all over the world.  It’s a large home with lots of space, and a big kitchen.  We are becoming excellent cooks on a very low budget.  We have made friends with all the critters.  There are lizards, ants, mice, frogs, mosquitoes, and my favorite cockroaches.  The other night there was a cockroach on my toothbrush!!

The other night Pastor Yasin picked us up for church in his truck.  We rode in the bed of the truck on a dirt road to a small church.  We sang  songs and Chelsea shared her testimony. Lots of younger children gathered which was encouraging to see.  On the way back was the most magical.  We rode in the truck under the milky way.  The stars were breathtakingly beautiful.

We are doing so many different things here in Bartica.  The next week will be full of ministry work for us.  I will post a video of all the things we are experiencing soon.  Pray for our team as the Lord uses us.  Thank you so much for supporting us.

God Bless,

Raychel
