In China, we worked with COAT, an organization that help find homes for orphans with special needs while keeping them in houses called Eagles Wings where they are taken care of by ayis (aka "aunt"). Eagles Wings give these children equal opportunities to live like children without disabilities. Orphans found in each Eagles Wings have been abandoned due to families lacking in financial support or are unwanted. In China, children with disabilities in orphanages eventually move to institutions where they are completely ostracized from society, and it's unfortunate that some people don't even know they exist! My experiences with these children has been one of the most memorable and exciting thing that ever happened in my life. I am truly blessed and honored to be given that chance.
