I know I haven’t posted a blog in a while, but I just had to tell y’all the story of the travel day I just experienced.
We traveled 9 hours on a bus from El Salvador to Honduras. We were supposed to meet our contact at the bus station, but he wasn’t there. Upon trying to call him, we find out we don’t have the correct number.
It’s about to get dark and we don’t want to travel at night for safety reasons. The rest of our squad left already to go to their ministry site or another hostel (we didn’t expect to stay the night in the city, so we didn’t book with them).
Courtney and Katie go to a restaurant to try to find wifi and meet an angel. His name is Dave. He lived in New Orleans for 25 years (so he speaks perfect English). He graciously invited us to haul our mountain of luggage into his air conditioned restaurant while we figure out what to do.
He then proceeds to set up a hotel room for us for the night for an awesome price. When we pulled up, the first thing I say was, “There’s no way this is in our budget.” But because of Dave, IT WAS! It’s a gorgeous hotel that has two pools and a HOT TUB. We are all in this precious condo-like room that has two levels and plenty of bed space for all of us. It’s air conditioned, has two tv’s, and honestly just feels like a home.
Several of us cried upon arrival because we just couldn’t believe this was happening. But it’s happening. We checked in, changed right into our swimsuits, and spend the next hour in the hot tub (just what every Racer needs after a long travel day, but rarely receives).
God is so good. We’re going to enjoy this great blessing tonight, and in the morning we’re heading to the village for our TENTH MONTH of ministry. We’re the heck has the time gone?
This life gets really, really hard sometimes. But God continues to prove His love and faithfulness again and again. Thank you Jesus for sending angels and giving us an amazing night after a long travel day. You’re good no matter what happens, and I am especially appreciating your goodness tonight.
Month 10, here we come!
Hey friends! I just wanted to remind y’all of an opportunity to continue supporting me on the last two months of my World Race. I’m running very low on personal funds for things like toiletries, extra food outside our $5 a day, off day activities, etc. A total of $300-400 would be a huge blessing, and anything left over will help make my financial transition back to the States less of a shock! If you would like to make any sized donation, you can do so through this GoFundMe page. Thanks so much and I’ll see y’all in 55 days!
