You know how people say the word “love” is used so much that it loses it’s meaning. Well that’s how I’m feeling about the words “thank you” right now.
Since the holidays have ended, I have received a huge influx of support and donations. I wrote about it last week, so I won’t go back over that part. But what I wanted to talk about this week is how inadequate the words “thank you” are compared to my actual gratitude.
I was trying to explain it to my friend over Skype a couple days ago, and I just kept stuttering because I can’t find the right words to describe it. All I can come up with generally is “oh my gosh, thank you so much.” It doesn’t feel like enough though. I say “thank you” a million times a day, sometimes even when it’s not warranted. But in my mind, there’s a huge difference between the “thank you” I say to a customer at work and the “thank you” I say to a supporter. How do I articulate the difference?
That’s the problem, I don’t know how. So instead of trying to come up with eloquent words, I’ll just keep this one short and sweet.
To everyone who has donated, thank you for believing in me. Thank you for being obedient to how the Lord wants you to be part of this journey. Thank you for your selflessness. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for teaching me how to be humble. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.
To those of you who will donate in the future, thank you. To those of you who won’t donate but love me anyway, thank you. To those of you who want to donate, but can’t, thank you.
I wish I could come up with a different word, but since I can’t, please know that you are all part of something that is changing me forever. I am eternally grateful.
