In honor of it being Month 11 and returning to the States in 19 DAYS!!!!!! I thought I would share some of the new things about me after this year……
- I have now officially rode on more elephants than horses in my life.
- I have spent more time in Asia than I have in all of my times in Africa combined.
- I have splashed around in 3 oceans, the China, Black, Adriatic, and Aegean Seas, the Persian Gulf, and the Bay of Bengal. I also saw the place where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet off of the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.
- This year, I will have placed my feet on the soil of 19 nations before I return to America… 28 total in my life.
- This year, I have used pink, blue, yellow, green, tan, peach and floral scented toilet paper.
- My new favorite fruit is mangosteen. In Cambodia, I ate 2 kg at one time… by myself. That’s (4.5 lbs). In my defense, they have hard shells that peel off.
- So far this year, I have spent nearly 55 hours on planes, 259.5 hours on busses, 60 hours in a van, 14 hours on a train, and countless hours in autos, rickshaws, tuk tuks, taxis, and songtows. I still have a bus ride to Montenegro, Albania, and a flight from Albania to America.
- My new favorite animals are tigers and elephants…being able to touch them helps!
- This year, I read 25 books.
- I went an entire month without toe nail polish…that had never happened before.
- I spent a month in a country that is not officially recognized by most of the world. This country is owned and run by Russia and one day, my team was locked in a room for several hours and not allowed to speak English because the KGB was inspecting the property.
