There’s this Man that I see dimly, but its enough to give Him everything.

Has God ever told you something that was uncomfortable or even difficult to hear? I was reading the story of a blind man that was touched by Jesus (Mark 8: 22-26) and was reminded of a conversation I had with him several months ago…before the World Race was even a consideration or thought.

Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.

And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.”

The Lord brought me to this story one day and told me that I was the blind man. Yikes! Not really something that you want to hear from Him. He told me to look deeper.

The man begged Jesus to touch him. There was something desperate about this man. He’d heard of Jesus and didn’t care what it looked like to anyone else, He wanted to be heard and seen by Jesus. He wanted an encounter with Him.  I understand this man. There is a deep desire and desperation in my heart for Jesus. I don’t care who sees me or hears me, when He searches the earth for one who seeks Him (Psalm 14:2) I want Him to see me.

Jesus took the man by the hand and led him out of the town. Sometimes, Jesus leads us away from everything that we are familiar with and everyone we know in order to open our eyes. That is what this year is for me. The World Race is taking the hand of the Lord and allowing Him to lead me wherever He wants to, even if I can’t see where we are going.

Initially the man was able to see better, but not completely. ‘I see men like trees, walking.’ And Jesus touched Him again. Hallelujah that He is faithful to finish the work! He does not abandon the process! He does not leave us in our condition and He is willing to touch us again!

I have been touched by the Lord before. And I’m not blind anymore… but I see men like trees, walking. Jesus wants me to see… Clearly. Completely. He wants me to see people rightly. He wants to fully open my eyes and finish the work He has begun in me. So, I am taking His hand and following Him, out of my town, my country, my comforts, and everything familiar to me… So that I can see Him and people rightly. I don’t want to LOOK at people. I want to SEE people.

What areas of your life has the Lord begun to touch? There is always more of Him to see! I encourage you to allow Him to lead you by the hand – away from the things that have been comfortable and held you back – so that He can open your eyes to something you have not seen before.
