Eight months and eight days ago I left all that was familiar to travel the world and tell those I met about Jesus and His love for them. I never could have guessed back in January all the amazing things God had in store for me this year. These last 50 days have been filled with great adventure and enjoying God’s beautiful creation. Enjoy a look into my life recently!
1. Go to the yoga capital of the world, Rishikesh, India
2. Have a $2 haircut by an Indian barber which included a 5-minute rough scalp massage
3. Travel to Nepal by air vs. land which was a “last minute” change and answer to our team’s prayers
4. Visit Pashupati, a Hindu temple where they perform cremations
5. Watch children play and jump into the same river that just feet away people are grieving their lost loved ones and performing the cremation ceremonies
6. Play Ninja with several Nepalese girls
7. Be sponsored by a sweet American couple living in Nepal to the Hyatt for our Sabbath
8. Tent on a balcony of a home
9. Sail for the first time
10. Have church on the beach in Costa Rica
11. Trek the Himalayan Mountains for 5 days!
12. Give testimony of what God did in Cambodia to believers in Nepal
13. Spend 2-3 hours trekking in the jungle with leaches
14. Learn that leaches love me 🙁
15. Walk in a cloud
16. Go to an outdoor movie garden
17. Get so excited about $1 washing machines
18. Be even MORE excited about a drying machine at any cost!
19. See wild dolphins in the Caribbean Sea
20. Go to Panama (not officially on our route)
21. Discover I have lice
22. Spend HOURS with my beloved teammates picking lice out of my hair for weeks as Nepal doesn’t carry chemical treatment for lice
23. Struggle with strongly feeling unloved and uncared for (spiritual warfare)
24. Experience an 11-hour, 45-minute time difference (Nepal to Costa Rica) and MAJOR jet lag
25. Have a layover in China!
26. Be in the USA for the first time in almost 9 months by having a layover in LA
27. Have our second team changes
28. Get to be on a team with my former logistics partner!
29. Learn that talking to those I feel have hurt me can bring healing
30. See the Panama Canal
31. Help paint murals at a hostel
32. Scuba dive for the first time
33. Scuba dive and see a real shipwreck!
34. Be reminded again that God doesn’t keep record of my wrongs – hallelujah!
35. Have friends speak truth over me and pray to release power against the enemy
36. Go to the largest mall in Central America
37. Eat crepe cakes made by our Dutch host
38. Release a second floating lantern
39. Walk behind a mouse down three flights of stairs!
40. Discover my love and need for flavored Tang
41. Stay in Nepalese Pastor’s homes
42. Drink SO many cups of lemongrass tea!
43. Have a feedback session around a group of guys who lovingly termed it “Compliments” and joined in
44. Watch God pursue people by bringing them back across our paths more than once
45. Make a new German friend and travel with her from Costa Rice to Panama
46. Grow in listening prayer for others
47. Learn more about the authority I have in Christ
48. Love on and paint the nails of teenage moms placed in a government home
49. Have a vertigo scare (praise God it was only water in the inner ear)
50. Anticipate my parents traveling to Costa Rica for the parent trip!!
