Hi everyone! The week before Thanksgiving I received my launch date and it’s coming! Last night I purchased my ticket to get me to our starting location, and this afternoon I just applied online for my Uganda VISA. It feels like it’s all happening so fast now as the days keep ticking by.

I will meet the rest of my squad that is stateside at the JFK airport in New York City one month from today!! I launch Friday, January 6, 2017 and we will arrive in Uganda on Sunday, January 8, 2017! There we will meet the rest of our squad and begin team training.

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to go! Last night I attempted to sleep in my sleeping bag, on my sleeping pad, with my roll-up travel pillow to get a taste of what the next year may possibly be like. I lasted about four hours before I crawled back into my comfy bed. I think I’ll store up on good-quality sleep for the next 31 days.

Last week I went to the doctor to talk through my trip and determine what vaccinations and medications I should get for next year. We also discussed some personal health concerns as I’ve been feeling pretty crummy for the past 6-8 weeks and it was determined I have a sinus infection. They also ran some labs to check a few other things, and praise the Lord those all came out clear.

The nurse practitioner wanted me on an antibiotic to make sure I’m fully healthy before I leave in January. But, with one of the vaccines I needed for my trip, I am not able to be on the antibiotic. With an already weakened immune system, I received three vaccinations last week, am getting another one tomorrow, and start a week-long one this Saturday.

Would you please pray with me that God would heal my body and allow the vaccines to do their job next year as I travel and that I will remain healthy? I’m doing what I can to drink my water, get enough sleep, and use essential oils, but I know the Great Physician is able to do above and beyond what I can do for myself.

Thank you for your commitment in coming along with me on this journey. God bless each one of you this holiday season!
