At Iglesia Christiana Benicion (the church we are working with) there are 3 services a week, Tuesday night worship, Saturday night, and Sunday morning. They all are a little different. Some people come to all 3 services and some people just come to one. Just like most churches back home they start with worship, have a sermon, and end with worship.
The worship is songs that I recognize from home just in Spanish instead of English. They sing the songs loud and proud and it makes my heart happy. I just wish I knew more Spanish so I could keep up!
The sermons are also in all Spanish and they speak fast! Every once in awhile I pick up on a few words that they are saying. However, last nights service was different, a man named Leandno preached. He use to go to the Pentecostal church but now goes to Iglesia Christiana Benicion because he feels the presence of God there. When he got on stage he said the service was for us, meaning the Americans, so Juan translated the whole service for us. Leandno spoke on God being our pastor and He is the one who knows all. It was perfect timing since earlier that day I had been thinking about how I missed my home church and going to church where I knew what they were saying. In reality I just need to do some more listening to God and he will be my pastor. This is especially true for this season of life where all the places I go church will be in another language.
Please continue to pray for my team as we finish up the last half of this month in the Dominican. If you would like to financially support me I still need to raise about $6,000. If you have questions feel free to email me at [email protected].
