Last week, my squad got the opportunity to attend Awakening. Awakening is a 3 day conference for World Race squads in the area and the hosts that AIM partners with. Our squad, I squad(who is in Month 10), and O Squad(who is in Month 8), met in Siem Reap last week. We worshipped, attended sessions, prayed, and did service projects together.

Since we are just entering Month 5, it was great opportunity to talk to the other squads about their journeys. It was almost intimidating walking into this knowing you are the “baby” squad. I was fearful of the “words of wisdom” we might get. These past 4 months have been hard. I didn’t know if I could handle being told that this is just the beginning.

Thankfully, that was not the case. After talking to some of the people on other squads, I was comforted by the fact that we were walking through the same things. I can guarantee that every World Racers experience is different. The World Race is what you make it. You can skim the top and not really dive deep and still do awesome things for the Kingdom. You can also choose to put everything you have into growing in intimacy with the Lord and with your community.

Everyone has their own story. They have their own struggles that they are walking through. I came away from Awakening without fear of what was to come. We all have our own paths, and they cannot be compared to any others.

One of the speakers at Awakening was a man named Gary Black. He helped start the World Race and is now running a leadership school in Spain. Most of his talks were on authority. We have so much authority as children of God. Most of us just don’t use it. Fear and Doubt do not come from the Lord and we have the authority to walk out of those. I have chosen to walk in authority in this. To accept exactly where I am in my walk with God and no longer fear or doubt that I am not where I am supposed to be. I have my own path. I cannot compare it to any others around me.

So if you are a future racer and are reading this blog, I hope it gives you peace. Everyone’s race looks different. It doesn’t matter if you are going to the same countries, ministries, or are even on the same team. Your race will look different and that’s the point. God created us to be unique. How can we walk the exact same paths if we are all created to be different?

For our Squad, debrief followed Awakening. It was a time of change. We had team changes and almost complete leadership change. For me, this is a new season. I will grow and be challenged in different ways, and I am ready. I am walking in the authority that God knows what He is doing and I can fully trust him with my life. So continue to keep us in your prayers during these different seasons of our lives.

Thanks!
