Hello!
I am very short on time but wanted to write because the Lord allowed us to find internet today! Sorry for the lack of blogging, we have not had internet and will not have it very often at all… it took us 5 days longer than we expected to arrive here and as soon as we did we got to work
I am doing well. Things are very good here in Malawi.
I will just give highlights so far (or at least a few)
* arriving to meet our contacts, amazing people of faith with huge smiles!
* surviving african nights full of big cockroaches, mice, ants and spiders
* arriving at our village for the week, the most amazing welcoming loving people i have ever met
* walking through the mountains of malawi, hut to hut, thinking about Paul doing the same thing… walking for a long time to sit and share the gospel
* praying under a mango tree with an entire community and seeing 15 people get saved at one time
* praying for children and seeing them dilevered from the witchcraft that has been oppressing them
* a mute man of 18 years, speaking for the first time… his first words were reading the word of god
* eating peanut butter and jelly and rice again and again and again but it SERIOUSLY tasting so so good
* seeing a woman walk again without pain for the first time in a very long time, enough to make it down the mountain to church
* dancing and praising God with africans… there is really nothing like it
* learning to do cool african noises with my tongue ha
* praying for peace and holding babies
* orange fanta is the new water
* preaching for the first time
*being scared half to death by a chicken who was hiding in the ‘bathroom’
* arriving at our new village and sitting under the stars being honored and entertained by local village children who would sing and dance and teach us games
* drinking african tea because it is so good even though it is hot
AFRICA! MALAWI! AMAZING
prayer requests:
*health – especially against malaria
*peaceful mind – here in africa voo doo and witchcraft on top of the enemies schemes… you have to fight for a peaceful mind so prayers would be helpful
* new team – just praying for continued unity
* atl – we are asking god about our month of january… where we should be, pray that he can guide us clearly
*strength and joy – month 5… its a toughy, holidays are coming up and family and friends are back home… pray that i can rely on his strenght and energy and choose joy when i miss home
* MORE AND MORE – more of God less of me
just a testimony to praise god about… in just three days the lord welcomed 95 people into eternity! 95 people saved! praise god praise god praise god!
Hallelujah and Amen as we say here in africa!
Love you and miss you all!
Rachel
