Being Mary

Since I committed to the Race, I had been a Martha. I had been scurrying and stressing, trying to control all aspects of fundraising and do it on my own. I failed to be a Mary, to simply be still and abide in His faithful presence. However, speaking with my Nana a few weeks ago (see previous blog post) was the heavenly love slap I needed to simplY trust. To have simple faith.

One of my friends was an example of that to me this week. She is a sweet, faithful woman in my bible study and when I told her about the Race, she was only excited. Her face lit up with exuberance as she told me how amazing this will be and how the Lord will use me. Unlike the vast majority of people I talk to, her first question was not the price. In fact, she didn't even ask, I just offered the number with a truthful, albeit tentative "But I know God will provide". And she did not even acknowledge that mountain with words, she just nodded and smiled, as if to say, "Our God is so much bigger than that". 

I was so reassured after talking with her and it just confirmed my new choice to be a Mary. I AM has got this, why would I worry?

And a week later, a week where I had simply sent out a few support letters, nothing else, God proved His point. Before Wednesday, I had $2,921. Two and a half weeks after I made the conscience decision to surrendor control, I now have $7,361.00. While I was sitting at His feet, receiving His peace in His presence, the Lord moved three of my beloved friends to give in outrageously selfless and sacrificial ways. There is no way anyone could ever attribute this to my hard work, my fundraising expertise or my people skills. All glory goes to God. Period. He is faithfully making good on His promise, and has ecplipsed the biggest financial barrier. I now have enough to launch and am OFFICIALLY GOING ON THE WORLD RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
